Description
This sculptural bench is a one-of-a-kind work of functional art, handcrafted from a single solid hardwood slab and charred using the traditional shou sugi ban technique. Its long, organic profile follows the natural contours of the tree, preserving its grain, cracks, and live edges in a form that feels shaped by time as much as by hand.
The top surface retains a warm, natural wood tone, while the edges are deeply textured and carbonized, creating a striking visual and tactile contrast. The charring process not only emphasizes the rhythm of the hand-hewn surface but also adds natural durability. Four solid, hand-shaped legs in natural hardwood anchor the piece, each unique in form and fitted with precision joinery for strength and stability.
Made entirely by hand using chainsaws, carving tools, and open flame, this bench embodies a process grounded in raw material and craftsmanship. Its understated yet commanding presence makes it equally suited for use as a low bench, coffee table, or sculptural focal point in spaces that value elemental materials and authentic design.
Perfect for wabi-sabi, Japandi, rustic modern, and contemporary interiors, this piece invites both everyday use and quiet admiration.
Sealed with natural oils and waxes to enhance the wood’s depth and protect the finish. Designed and made in Europe by Logniture, a studio dedicated to transforming raw timber into expressive, heirloom-grade furniture.

Message from Seller:
We do not cut down, we do not destroy, but seek out downed tree limbs toppled by fierce wind storms or driftwood from the local creek. But, in that moment of discovery all it takes is a tiny spark in the artist's eye and in his vision the piece becomes what it was always meant to be. P: +38.595.396.1045 E: logniture@gmail.com
