Description
No 11120
A unique Regency Period Mahogany Lady’s Screen Writing Table in the form of a Sofa Table with a drop flap at either end. Unusually the grain of the mahogany on the solid mahogany top runs in one piece from end to end. The frieze is fitted with two drawers and the reverse with two dummy drawers behind two silk lined rising screens. The whole is raised on turned tapering legs terminating in brass cups and casters.
Circa 1815
Price: £2,450-00p.
Height: 29”, 74 cms / Width: 43.5” Opening to 62.5”, 110.5<158.5 cms / Depth: 20”, 51 cms
Note: Lady’s screen writing tables were popular in the Regency period and placed near a bay window would have prevented any discomfort caused by a draught on the owner’s legs. Equally, of an evening, placed in front of an open fire, would prevent the owner from developing an unseemly glow. - More Information
