Brass Chamberstick Featuring an American Indian
-
Description
A very unusual brass chamberstick featuring an oval base with a plain candle socket. Rising at the back is a scalloped arched backplate finely cast and detailed with the figure of an American Indian warrior, shown standing and holding a bow and arrow. The figure wears a tall feathered headdress and a skirt of stylized feathers about the waist, lending a decorative quality. The polished brass surface highlights the crisp details of the casting, giving the piece both function and a striking ornamental presence.
