Pair of Wall Appliques by Toni Zuccheri for Venini, Italy 1970s
-
Description
These sculptural wall appliques by Toni Zuccheri for Venini offer a beautifully refined play of form and luminosity. Created in the 1970s, they reflect the Italian designer’s love for material experimentation and his ongoing dialogue with Murano glass traditions.
Design
Each applique features a rectangular slab of thick, hand-blown glass in a milky tone, subtly marbled with streaks of translucent white. The glass is richly textured, its surface reminiscent of melting ice or folded fabric, and is mounted using simple bronze-toned fasteners that contrast with the softly luminous surface. Zuccheri’s background in architecture and zoology often informed his designs, giving rise to pieces that feel both organic and deliberate.
The design balances structured geometry with irregular surface details, a hallmark of Venini’s experimental phase in the 1970s. Intended for wall mounting, they would work beautifully in a hallway, bedroom, or as a subtle sculptural element in a contemporary or mid-century interior.
Condition
The set is in very good original condition with some light wear consistent with age. No cracks or major defects noted. Wiring is in working order, though professional installation is advised. -
