On offer for your consideration we have a wonderful cold-painted bronze lamp made at Viennese foundry owned by Franz Xaver Bergmann in Austria.
'Cold-painted bronze' refers to pieces cast in Vienna and then decorated in several layers with so-called dust paint; the know-how for the mix of this kind of paint has been lost. The color was not fired, hence 'cold painted'.
The lamp is in the form of a Medieval three story house. The house is painted in a soft gold with a red roof tiles there is greening vine climbing up to the first floor. There are three windows, one in red, green and blue. Inside sits the cobbler busy at his work table.
This lamp has a very interesting added feature: a Swiss music box, fitted into the base which is not work at the present time.
The lamp is stamped with a "B" in an urn-shaped cartouche and NamGreb.
