Description
Art Deco Vase with Black Enameled Crystal by Palda
A dynamic design by Karl Palda, famed Czechoslovakian artist who pushed the boundaries of traditional crystal styles by incorporating bold geometric shapes that were a hallmark of his very modernist Deco pieces.
This piece is thick walled and heavy and would lend a perfect decorative touch to a streamlined or contemporary decor. We like to point out what each country in the world contributed to the Art Deco movement and it was the glassworks of this region that were most notable.
The Palda glassworks, founded in 1888 in Haida (Novy Bor, Bohemia), reached its artistic peak between 1928 and 1938 when vivid, geometric designs replaced the more traditional floral patterns of earlier decades.
Karl Palda’s designs are increasingly sought after by collectors who recognize the rarity of his bold, modernist vision in pieces such as this, with crisp geometric lines , striking enamel contrasts, and in such fine condition. For the discerning collector, this vase captures both the essence of interwar Czechoslovakian innovation and the universal appeal of Deco design. - More Information
