English, mid-18th c.
Carved oak
Top Platform of a later date (19th c.), otherwise in fine condition.
Provenance: Fine English Furniture, Sculpture, Works of Art Bonhams, London, 2014; Collection of Aso Tavitian, New York.
An exceptional, finely carved and executed corner bracket shelf. The later shaped top with a half-rosette carved boarder sits above a carved scallop shell surmounted by strapwork, scrolls, a floral swag and acanthus motifs.
