Description
An Elegant French Mid-Century Modern Hand-Sewn Black Leather Coffee or Cocktail Table by Jacques Adnet, France circa 1955-1960. Adnet pieces are known for their uniqueness and their interpretation of classic ideas into innovative modern forms. That is the case with this exemplary leather wrapped table. The piece is raised up on round brass ball finial feet and has a rare arched base with a rectangular form. It is finished with solid brass acorn nut fasteners adding dynamic color contrast. Dimensions: H 18.5 x W 40 x D 18.5”; Glass: 39 x 17.38.
Jacques Adnet was one of the foremost Parisian creators of the Midcentury period. His career spanned from the Art Deco period of the late 1920's, Modernism of the early 30's, Modern Neoclassicism of the 1940's. In the Fifties he began a series of leather clad pieces which are greatly sought after today for their modern and timeless aesthetics. Voila, this example.
