Restoration period band sampler, dated 1678, stither with initials EV. The sampler is worked in silk threads on a linen ground. A wonderful variety of horizontal patterned bands across the sampler. Colours gold, blue, green and black. Alphabets A-Z in upper case. Signed with initials and dated 'EV 1678'. Framed in an old wood frame with rippled, old glass. Mounting: The sampler is fixed to card. Frame backed with chipboard and sealed with tape.. Dimensions exclude the frame and slip.

Origin: England Period: Pre 18th Century Condition: Good. Good. One hole. A few stain specks. Light patchy staining in places. Stitch losses to one flower. Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined. No colour run. Neatly and evenly stretched. Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
