Description
NIKOLAI LIEBERICH [after]
Russian, 1828-1883
A Resting Bear
Sand-cast patinated bronze with concrete core | signed in Cyrillic to the underside (editeur Grisal) | unsigned, posthumous cast after 1884
Item # 308KLY13P An exceedingly good cast of a resting bear, it bears the markings for Grisal on the underside beneath one paw. The texture is extraordinary and sharp to the touch, the hair intricately rendered in the bronze while the face and paws of the bear are photographically realistic. Note the very small size of the sculpture when viewing the intricate detail - the work is nearly jeweler-grade.
Measurements: 7" W x 3 1/4" D x 1 5/8" H Condition Report:
Very fine original condition, patina with very minor variation, cleaned and well-preserved. -
