French 19th Century Gilt and Painted Trumeau

$ 2,200
  • Description
    Dimensions: 36” H x 18 ¼” W x 1 ⅝” D

    A unique trumeau mirror from circa 1800 century France featuring an assortment of gilded, low-relief carvings in the panel above the glass. This amalgamation consists of a satin ribbon tied in a bow, leading down to an entanglement of multiple, symbolic elements of unclear significance. Below these sculptural elements is the trumeau’s original mirror plate, appearing hazy from the dark foxing to beautifully complement the (patinated) gold gilt trim surrounding. A painted back panel in weathered celadon green imbues the work with an air of tranquility to inspire a moment of reflection in any room, quite literally and figuratively. Please be sure to view the detailed images to appreciate all the wonderful features of this 19th century trumeau mirror.
