Description
Slender and luminous, this form carved in alabaster by François-Xavier Poulaillon rises like a silent architecture. Through its tiers and its summit opening, UR evokes a passage, an elevation — a dialogue between matter and light, weight and transparency.

Materials: Carved Alabaster

Inspiration: Cut from the milky transparency of alabaster, UR stands out for its quiet verticality and its balance between rigour and mystery. Its pyramidal shape, cut into tiers that open into an arch at the top, evokes both ancient architecture and a symbolic construction, a door to the invisible. The light, absorbed and then returned by the stone, subtly animates the surface and reveals the depth of the material. Between weight and elevation, opacity and transparency, UR deploys a space of contemplation: a primordial form, both anchored and spiritual, which invites meditation on origin, light and passage.

François-Xavier Poulaillon is a French stone sculptor based in the Pyrénées-Orientales.
