Description
A refined Louis XVI walnut chest of drawers opening on the front with five drawers arranged in three rows, exemplifying the clarity and decorative restraint of late 18th-century French neoclassical furniture. The drawers are fitted with drop handles and retain a working key operating all five locks, adding both functionality and historical integrity. The drawer fronts are outlined with finely applied brass rods, while the crosspiece separating the upper row from the two lower drawers is enriched with a continuous geometric brass inlay, creating a subtle yet sophisticated decorative rhythm.
The front and rear uprights are fluted, emphasizing verticality and architectural balance. The chest rests on tapered feet decorated with brass detailing, reinforcing the neoclassical vocabulary. The sides are paneled and framed with care, highlighting the quality of construction and materials.
Presented in very good condition, the chest has been carefully cleaned and re-patinated, preserving the warmth of the walnut and the crispness of the brass ornamentation. An elegant and well-proportioned storage piece suitable for both traditional and refined contemporary interiors.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
