Description
Here is the stunning collection of Cab 413 armchairs by Mario Bellini for Cassina.
The Cab 413 is an icon of Italian design, originally presented in 1977. The 413 is the progenitor of the family of seats, where Bellini leads us through CAB to a reflection on the deep meanings and semantic values of furniture objects. Ideally conceived as an extension and prosthesis of the body, it features a tubular steel skeleton and a taut leather skin. It is a perfect chair for around an important table, whether in the living room at home, in a conference room at the office, or in a restaurant with a refined and luxurious style.
Here are some key details about the chair, which is part of Cassina's "I Contemporanei" collection:
Design and Construction
Concept: Bellini designed the chair as an innovation where the leather serves as a second skin for the internal structure, drawing inspiration from the relationship between the human skeleton and skin.
Structure: It features a minimalist internal skeleton made of a black painted tubular steel frame.
Upholstery: The upholstery is made of 22 pieces of leather cut and hand-stitched with precision, which are "fitted" onto the frame.
Closure: The leather upholstery closes with zippers running along the inside of the legs, mimicking the sartorial precision of a fine suit.
Model: The Cab 413 model specifically refers to the armchair, as seen in the photo. The chairs in the photo showcase a variety of classic and popular colors available, including: Orange Red and Amaranth Red, Gray, Blue (two armchairs), and Brown, enhancing this set and making it unique in its kind.
The leather develops a unique patina over time, highly appreciated and adding character to the chair.
The Cab chair is permanently included in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
