Description
A refined pair of Swedish demi-lune console tables dating to the late nineteenth century, circa 1880. Crafted in wood and finished in a light painted surface, these consoles reflect the neoclassical influence that characterized Swedish furniture of the period. The semi-circular form allows each table to sit gracefully against a wall while maintaining elegant proportion and visual balance.
The aprons are carved with a continuous Greek key motif, a classical decorative element that adds architectural interest without excess ornamentation. Slender, tapered legs support the form, reinforcing the lightness and symmetry typical of Swedish design influenced by earlier Gustavian traditions.
The painted surfaces display subtle wear and tonal variation consistent with age, contributing to a soft, authentic patina. Used together as a symmetrical pair or separately in different spaces, these consoles are ideal for entryways, living rooms, or flanking architectural features. Their restrained decoration and clean lines allow them to integrate seamlessly into both traditional and contemporary interiors while offering enduring Scandinavian elegance.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
