Description
A hand-foot wood sculpture by celebrated Mexican American surrealist artist Pedro Friedeberg (1936-), circa 1960s. The tabletop model is scarce in two aspects: Firstly, the form of this piece is of a joined double hand-foot form with open palms in offering gesture. Secondly, the surface finish is highly unusual silver leaf rubbed finish above a cobalt blue under paint. We have rarely seen this color combination in the artist's repertoire over the years.
Constructed in carved block of wood (likely Mohagany), the organic curve and contoured form are instantly recognizable of the artist's design. The workmanship is fluid, and the piece remains in fine condition. Signature under the feet as shown. -
