Description
FRENCH CHARLES X BURLWOOD, BLACK MARBLE AND BRASS DRUM TOP END TABLE
Of drum form with pierced brass gallery over elongated spheroid feet | early-to-mid 19th century
Item # 407NZR10L
A gorgeous Charles X period marbletop side table of perfect proportions, it sits just 25 3/8" high and as such works beautifully with most seating furniture. The black marble is gorgeous with a chaotic white veining throughout, the simple pierced gallery surrounding this a nice compliment against the dark stone. The drum top features a single hand-dovetailed drawer in the front and two withdrawable drink slides on either end, these finished in a gilt-tooled green leather. This is raised on a swollen baluster column with brass rings finishing the top and bottom of the column over a tripart base raised on elongated spheroid (or almost conical) feet.
A lovely presentation and most useful!
Measurements: 25 3/8" H x 25 5/8" diameter
Condition Report:
Minor scuffs and abrasions to the polished burlwood surface (images show a white mark which has since been removed); one small dent to the burlwood side; minor chips here and there; early green leather with most of the gilding having worn away; light scuffs/scratches to the marble top; a nice silky surface with a good patina; some minor denting to the brass gallery; brass is has a lovely aged patina; sturdy and strong. -
