Description
This set of eight Swedish chairs dates to the mid-18th century, circa 1760, and represents an early example of Scandinavian seating with elegant provincial character. Each chair features a distinctive pierced back splat with softly contoured outlines, reflecting the restrained decorative language typical of Swedish furniture of the period.
The frames retain a light painted finish, presenting gentle wear and surface variation consistent with age, which enhances their authenticity and visual depth. The seats are upholstered in dark fabric, offering a refined contrast to the pale frames while maintaining a balanced and understated palette. Curved front legs and shaped stretchers provide both stability and sculptural presence, contributing to the chairs’ harmonious proportions.
Crafted in Sweden during the 18th century, this cohesive set is well suited for use around a dining table or as accent seating in a traditional or historically inspired interior. Wear consistent with age is present throughout and is in keeping with the character of early Swedish furniture.
