19th C Venetian Paraclose Mirror

$ 16,000
  • Description
    An exceptional 19th century Venetian parclose mirror, exquisitely hand-crafted with the artistry and refinement synonymous with Venice’s celebrated glassmaking tradition. The mirror features its original central plate, framed by an elaborate arrangement of hand-etched and shaped mirrored panels, each delicately engraved with scrolling foliate motifs and floral ornament.
    The architectural form is crowned by a gracefully scrolled crest, adorned with finely worked, applied glass florets and a prominent rosette finial, all executed in clear Murano glass. The surrounding parclose panels are intricately cut and etched, creating a luminous interplay of light and shadow that is further enhanced by the subtle sparkle of the applied floral bosses and beaded edging.
    Particularly striking are the softly arched upper panels and scrolling side elements, which lend the piece a sculptural, almost lace-like quality—hallmarks of the finest Venetian craftsmanship of the period. The mirror retains beautiful age-related character, including areas of foxing and silvering loss to the plates, which contribute to its authenticity and romantic patina.
    A rare and highly decorative example, this mirror embodies the elegance and technical mastery of 19th century Venetian glass artisans, making it an exceptional focal point for both traditional and contemporary interiors.
