Description
This desk, designed by Benjamin Pagart, is made of ovangkol and has fluid and organic lines, where the curves of the legs seem to naturally extend the top.
Benjamin Pagart lives and works in the effervescence and cultural bubbling of his Parisian studio while Yves is inspired by the natural wealth of the Lot valley, near Cahors. Their pieces are the result of the creative fusion of their respective universes. Yves carefully prepares each prototype for casting and Benjamin takes care of the cabinetmaking and manufacturing. Bronze and precious woods are their favorite materials.
Made of ovangkol, a dense and rich tropical wood, renowned for its shimmering veins — usually golden brown to reddish-brown, sometimes with lighter highlights — and its lustrous texture.
Inspiration: A wood sculptor and heir to the cabinetmaking tradition, Benjamin Pagart designs his furniture as works of balance between function and expression. This desk, shaped in the ovangkol, deploys fluid and organic lines, where the curves of the legs seem to naturally extend the top. Each stage, from the preparatory drawing to the final polishing, reveals a search for harmony between stability and lightness, raw material and refinement. A unique piece, this piece of furniture embodies the artist’s desire to inscribe the artisanal gesture in a contemporary style.
Edition: 8 signed and numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs -
