  • Description
    Origin: Amsterdam, the Netherlands
    Date: 1740

In the 18th century, it was popular to decorate your walls with paintings, with images from far away, to tell stories and marvel over these places. Due to the artistry and craftsmanship of the Delft potters, it also became a fashion to hang a ceramic painting on your wall. These fine blue and white paintings are known as plaques.

The plaque has a fine decoration in cobalt blue, of a still life of a vase with flowers. The vase is richly filled with all sorts of flowers, such as tulips, carnations, and roses.
An old master painting, on Delftware.

The plaque is in wonderful condition with the normal signs of use of almost 300 years of admiration, the glaze has a gentle mat finish.
