Description
This chess set was designed by Richard L. Synek in 1965 and dedicated to Charles Martel (c. 688-741), Prince of the Franks who won the Battle of Tours, Oct 10-11, 732. AD Comprised of a wooden box with a hammered antiqued copper playing board embossed with greek crosses and other geometricpatterns, affixed to lid with a brass latch opening to reveal a burgundy velvet lined fitted interior housing thirty-two metal playing pieces with bronze and nickel plating to represent the contrasting sides. Playing pieces ranging in size from 2 in.to 4.125 in. tall. Each piece is signed by the artist and dated 1965. This set is in very fine condition.
