This Yavapai basketry tray has images of horses, dogs and human figures. It is likely Yavapai rather than Western Apache because of its negative design (the star design in the center is highlighted by negative framing triangles). These are characteristics of Yavapai weaving although the regularity of the design implies Western Apache.

This basket is very fresh to the market, coming out of an old collection. It has a beautiful patina and is in excellent condition.
