Art Deco Club Chair and Ottoman, Europe First half of the 20th Century

$ 13,300
  • Description
    Art Deco club chairs were conceived as comfortable, cocoon-like seating, originally designed for private lounges and social interiors in early 20th-century Europe. Rather than emphasizing exposed structure, these chairs focused on volumes upholstered in soft textiles.

    This example follows that lineage through its distinctly rounded and enveloping form. The chair is fully upholstered, with padding that wraps around the seat, back, and arms without interruption. The arms curve outward in a soft arching gesture, giving the piece a sculptural quality that contrasts with more angular designs of the same period. The backrest is slightly reclined, working together with the seat to create a relaxed seating position. The addition of a matching ottoman further reinforced the relaxation, extending the function of the chair beyond into complete lounging experience. The ottoman mirrors the softness of the chair, acting as both a visual extension and a functional complement. Both elements rest on low, short feet that maintain balance without breaking the visual continuity of the bodies. The fabric, in a light neutral tone, enhances the sense of softness while allowing the form itself to remain the focal point.

    The design of these pieces reflects the commitments of early 20th century furniture, relying on mass and comfort to create identity. With its round profile and matching ottoman, this armchair is the perfect seating solution for a range of interiors.
