Description
An exceptional example of high-end mid-century Italian craftsmanship, this sophisticated dry bar cabinet showcases the geometric rigor and material luxury typical of 1950s Milanese design.
The cabinet's defining feature is its stunning, hand-carved "grissinato" (reeded or fluted) wood texture that seamlessly wraps around the entire front and sides. This meticulous linear workmanship creates an extraordinary play of light and shadow, elevating the piece into a sculptural statement. The upper top is elegantly bordered by a delicate maple wood inlay (fillet) that contrasts beautifully with the rich, deep tones of the main structure.
The front features a unique dual-compartment layout with an original dual drop-front (drop-down) opening system supported by sturdy brass hinges:
Upper Compartment: Designed as a theatrical dry bar, completely lined with pristine vintage mirrors to reflect glassware and bottles.
Lower Compartment: Offers extensive and elegant storage space for spirits, linens, or dinnerware.
Adding a layer of neoclassical charm to this modernist silhouette, the center of each drop-front door is embellished with an inset, beautifully framed authentic antique print depicting classical landscapes. The cabinet is raised on four finely tapered legs featuring vertical fluting and finished with elegant polished brass sabots (ferrules).
Very good restored Condition. This piece has been recently and meticulously restored by a master Italian artisan. The wood has been brought back to its original luster, the mirrors are intact with excellent reflectivity, and the brass hardware functions smoothly. Structural integrity is perfect. -
