ART DECO BLUE VASE from Longwy for the Primavera workshop, 1930

$ 3,400
  • Description
    Art Deco vase made in the 1930s by the Longwy factory for Atelier Primavera, the renowned design studio founded by Printemps (Paris) to promote modern decorative arts. This remarkable piece features a polychrome decoration depicting a stylized peacock, a goat, and two women, in a deep palette of blues enhanced with black and ivory tones.

    The rich graphic design, combined with the delicate crackle glaze characteristic of Longwy enamels, perfectly illustrates the Art Deco aesthetic of the 1930s: a dialogue between classical inspiration, symbolist motifs, and stylized lines. The vase's balanced proportions and the quality of its execution testify to the exceptional expertise of the Lorraine factory.

    Founded in 1798, the Longwy factory established itself as one of the leading names in French ceramics as early as the 19th century. Renowned for its cloisonné enamels and refined decorative creations, this company collaborated in the 20th century with numerous prestigious artists and workshops, including Primavera, a major player in the revival of French decorative arts between the two World Wars.

    Rare on the market, this piece is captivating both for its sculptural dimension and the richness of its decoration. The piece is in excellent original condition, with beautifully fresh enamel and remarkable quality for a piece of this period.
