An elegant mid-19th century Louis XVI style chest of drawers in mahogany, surmounted by a gray and white veined marble top with rounded turret-form front corners that accentuate the fluted turret-form stiles that frame the case. The three drawer fronts are veneered in striking bookmatched flame-grained mahogany, creating rich movement and contrast to the overall façade. Restrained molding, classic brass hardware, and finely fluted tapered feet terminating in brass sabots reinforce the chest’s neoclassical character. Sophisticated yet understated, the piece exemplifies the balanced proportions and timeless elegance associated with the revival of the Louis XVI style during the reign of Napoleon III.
