Description
Dimensions: 43” H x 24 ½” W x 15 ¾” D
French, late 19th century small chest of drawers concealed behind tambour doors–like a chiffonier or butler’s cabinet–to elegantly organize small items for easy retrieval. The mahogany construction is embellished with stylized carvings that introduce Egyptian Revival motifs onto the Louis XVI structure. Its petite and narrow reeded case features a lightly patinated marble top that is inset and trimmed in wood for a clean, modern look without a brass gallery. Hidden below the marble is a small, tooled leather top shelf that slides easily. The front of the cabinetry is enclosed by tambour doors that retract into the sides to access the five drawers (two small drawers in the top row over three larger drawers with working locks). This unusual storage piece has been gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax to maintain every extraordinary detail. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos. Please view the detailed image gallery for the current condition or reach out directly with any questions. Three keys included. -
