Pair antique Chinese deeply carved wood openwork giltwood architectural panels, depicting intricate scenes illustrating courtly life, historical epics, pagodas, horses and religious themes. They were decorative elements inside temples, shrines and in homes, especially designed for marriage beds. The surface is finished in gold leaf over red lacquer.
