Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There First Edition with 50 illustrations by John Tenniel. Illustrated frontispiece depicting a scene. Published London: Macmillan and Co., 1872.
Marbled endpapers, all edges gilt, raised bands on spines. Housed in linen slipcase. Rebound beautifully by Bayntun in full red Morocco leather with gilt frames on covers and fork motifs of rabbits and playing cards on spine panel compartments. Gilt depictions of the White Rabbit holding a pocket watch and cane on the front cover of Alice in Wonderland and of Chess Piece character on front cover of Through the Looking Glass. Original binding included in each volume.
