Brutalist Sideboard by Aranjou, France Second Half of 20th Century

Among furniture design ideas, the 1950s and 60s were pivotal for the emergence of the Brutalist movement. Irregular edges, visible joinery, and expressive grain patterns were embraced, creating pieces that balanced traditional craftsmanship with a sculptural modern sensibility.

This sideboard puts the emphasis on showcasing the material through a robust design. As is the case with its European contemporaries, this model also deserts any unnecessary ornamentation in favour of the Brutalist design philosophy, which centres around craftsmanship and functionality. In good vintage condition. Wear consistent with age and use. The sideboard has recently been reconditioned. Due to the age and nature of the material, the item has minor scratches and dents, and may have additional marks or discolouration.
