In the 1950s, an "all-white era", jewelers began exploring the interplay of fancy-cut diamonds, allowing their basic shapes and the way their forms interact to suggest new designs. Tiffany & Co., Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, and Harry Winston were as usual at the forefront of innovation in these ultra streamlined diamond and platinum jewels, whose appeal continues today. -
