Description
Worked in the Louis XVI taste and made in France in the eighteenth century, this wall mirror has a wood panel frame with carved detailing characteristic of the period. The neoclassical form is restrained, relying on clean architectural lines rather than heavy ornament. The paneled construction gives the frame structure and depth around the plate, while the carved elements add definition in the manner typical of late-eighteenth-century French work. Vertical in proportion, the mirror is suited to placement above a console, commode, or mantel, where it returns light to the room and adds architectural height. The measured design allows it to sit within both period interiors and plainer modern rooms. As a wall piece it functions both decoratively and practically, extending light in an entrance hall, reception room, or bedroom while contributing a quiet neoclassical accent to the wall.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
