Reference: Illustrated in American Cabinetmakers – Marked American Furniture, 1640 – 1940 by William C. Ketchum, Jr. with the Museum of American Folk Art, Pages 315 – 316. For information on Robert Joyce see Distin & Bishop, The American Clock, page 316, and Brooks Palmer, The Book of American Clocks, page 235.
The works are by the New York City clockmaker, Robert Joyce who worked in the late eighteenth century, and the case by Slover and Kortright, Cabinetmakers at 30 Cortland Street, New York City who worked in partnership for only two years, 1795 and 1796.
