Description
Joaquim Tenreiro (1906–1992) Pair of Cadeiraa Curva Chairs 1962
Designed and produced in Brazil by Tenreiro Móveis & Decorações 1961-62, the Cadeira Curva chair by Joequin Tenreiro is regarded as a masterpiece of Brazilian Modernism.
Renowned for its sculptural silhouette and fluid bentwood lines the Curva chair balances visual lightness with structural strength, Tenreiro's pieces are highly coveted for their rarity and meticulous craftsmanship .
A pioneer of the modernist movement Tenreiro replaced heavy traditional styles and materials with light forms and native hardwoods, positioning him at the apex of the Brazilian Mid-Century avant-garde aesthetic, alongside Oscar Niemeyer, Sergio Rodrigues and Jose Zanine Caldas
