Description
The Poltrona Frau Viking is one of the most impressive lounge chairs of its time, combining Scandinavian design tradition with Italian craftsmanship of the highest caliber. Its distinctive design impresses with an exceptional lightness, created by the elegantly curved frame and the seemingly free-floating seat construction. The harmonious combination of clean lines, organic forms, and luxurious materials gives the armchair a timeless elegance that has lost none of its fascination decades after its creation.
The Viking is based on the groundbreaking seating concept of Norwegian designer Sigurd Ressell, whose legendary Falcon Chair is one of the most significant designs of Scandinavian design in the 1970s. Ressell's idea of combining a flexible support structure with generous leather cushions revolutionized the seating comfort of modern lounge chairs. The result is a piece of furniture that naturally embraces the body and offers an exceptionally relaxed seating experience.
The example offered here is in exceptionally well-maintained condition. The high-quality black leather is soft, supple, and almost free of signs of wear. The generous cushions retain their original shape and convey the luxurious seating comfort for which Poltrona Frau is renowned worldwide. The characteristic canvas upholstery on the back is also in immaculate condition and underscores the high-quality craftsmanship of this special armchair. The black lacquered frame is also excellently preserved and emphasizes the elegant, almost floating appearance of the design.
Since its founding in 1912, Poltrona Frau has stood for exclusive leather furniture of exceptional quality. The traditional Italian manufacturer enjoys an outstanding worldwide reputation for its uncompromising material selection, precise craftsmanship, and timeless design. Numerous designs from the house are now considered international design classics and are an integral part of important collections.
With its exceptional combination of Scandinavian design language, Italian manufacturing quality, and outstanding seating comfort, this Poltrona Frau Viking is much more than just an armchair. It is a design classic with collector's potential that makes an impressive statement both as a solitaire in a living area and in a sophisticated office or library setting. A rare original for lovers of authentic design history and high-quality craftsmanship, manufactured in the 90s. -
