Artisca "Vermont" Hand-Tufted Wool Rug, France 1970s-1980s

This elegant Tisca “Vermont” wool rug represents the sophisticated modern textile design tradition associated with the French-based company Tisca. During the late 20th century the company developed a strong reputation for producing architectural textiles that complemented modern interiors and contemporary spaces.

The composition is calm and balanced, built around a soft green field interrupted by a few geometric shapes in lighter tones. Near the lower edge, subtle blue and yellow lines introduce a gentle chromatic contrast that gives rhythm to the design. The overall visual language reflects the principles of modernism, where clarity of form and harmonious color proportions are central elements.

The rug is made from 100% pure new wool using the hand-tufted technique, one of Tisca’s signature manufacturing methods. This process results in a dense, soft surface while ensuring excellent durability, allowing the rug to maintain its character for decades.

The label identifies the model as “Vermont.” The restrained geometry and balanced palette place the design within the European modern textile movement of the 1970s–1980s.
