Vintage Italian Hand Painted Ceramic Figural Pitcher Vase by Giovanni de Simone

$ 950
  • Description
    Hand-painted ceramic sculptural pitcher/vase by Sicilian aristocrat turned artist, Giovanni De Simone (1964, Italy).
    Unique, figural form with hand-painted details in De Simone's signature vibrant colors of orange and lime green.
    In addition to the facial details at the top, there is a Trojan warrior motif present to both front and back.
    This piece's aesthetic was heavily influenced by Pablo Picasso (whom De Simone greatly admired). It is an amalgam of Italian folk art (simplicity, inaccuracy and crudeness of subject) with modernism in the use of color and shape.
    Very good, vintage condition with age/appropriate crazing present, but not chips, cracks, or losses.
    Signed De Simone Italy 64/6.
    H: 8" x L: 7.25" x D: 6.75
