Rare large box in stitched leather by Paul Dupre-Lafon for HERMES

Nicknamed "the decorator of billionaires," Paul Dupré-Lafon established himself as one of the leading figures of Art Deco. A brilliant architect and decorator, he was born in Marseille in 1900. A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts in 1923, Dupré-Lafon became one of the most prominent interior designers in Paris by 1929 after designing all the furniture for a private mansion near Parc Monceau.
From the 1930s onward, he collaborated with Hermès, designing several elegant and contemporary office accessories. It was truly in the 1950s and 60s that he created his most remarkable pieces. All the objects produced during this period are now highly sought after by collectors.
