Description
An impressive gold necklace suspended with a substantial sculptural pendant designed as a tiered Eastern pagoda enclosing a figure of the meditating Buddha. The jewel harmoniously combines the traditions of European goldsmithing with the iconography of the East, reflecting the enduring fascination of the second half of the twentieth century with Buddhist philosophy and the aesthetics of the Far East. The three-dimensional pendant is crafted in 18-karat (750 standard) gold and distinguished by its sophisticated architectural composition. At its centre is a finely modelled figure of the Buddha seated in meditation beneath an openwork pagoda canopy. The richness of the sculptural modelling, the refined ornamental detailing and the carefully executed relief demonstrate the high level of craftsmanship. The architectural silhouette of the pendant evokes the appearance of a miniature temple, transforming the jewel into an autonomous work of goldsmith's art. The necklace itself is crafted in 14-karat (585 standard) gold, providing an elegant complement to the substantial pendant while ensuring both comfortable wear and visual harmony. Owing to its considerable weight, balanced proportions and symbolic significance, the jewel possesses notable artistic and collectible value, appealing equally to connoisseurs of fine jewellery and collectors of objects inspired by Eastern iconography. Hallmarks: Assay mark for 750 gold on the pendant. Assay mark for 585 gold on the necklace. Dimensions: Overall necklace length: 37 cm. Weight: Total weight: 45.33 g.
