Description
Iconic “Onda” sofa, designed in 1985 by De Pas, D’Urbino and Lomazzi for Zanotta, representing one of the most recognizable examples of Italian postmodern design of the 1980s.
The sofa features a distinctive curved and enveloping form, with the backrest following the entire perimeter of the seat, creating a continuous and sculptural silhouette. The black leather upholstery emphasizes its bold and elegant character, while the structure in 18/8 stainless steel tubular runs along the profile of the sofa, becoming both a structural and decorative element.
The particular construction makes “Onda” striking from every angle, especially from the rear, where the metal tubing follows the curves of the body of the sofa, creating a distinctive graphic pattern. The generous seating area and the variable-density polyurethane foam padding, combined with thermobonded polyester fiber, provide a comfortable seating experience.
The design perfectly expresses the language of 1980s Italian design, combining an unconventional, immediately recognizable form with an essential construction. Despite its strong personality, its soft curves allow the sofa to work naturally in contemporary interiors as well as vintage and eclectic settings.
An important piece of Italian design by De Pas, D’Urbino and Lomazzi, in which the black leather and polished stainless steel create a particularly elegant contrast, making “Onda” a sculptural and timeless addition to an interior. -
