Mid-Century Emerald and Diamond Ring

This mid-century "Stepped-up" ring is composed of emeralds, diamonds and platinum. The ring's bombé top is designed with five tiered rows of calibré step-cut emeralds alternating with round brilliant-cut diamonds, the stepped surface continuing fully around the heavy platinum shank. Nicely balanced, set with beautifully matched emeralds, and this streamlined mid-century ring channels the eternally modern Machine Age style.

First manufactured by Oscar Heyman in the 1930s, the "Stepped-up" ring was based on Parisian models, and introduced in New York by Raymond Yard. The rings were "extremely popular" and Yard's own workmen soon began producing them in-house, offering vividly colored ruby and sapphire versions as well.
