Description
Wheel cut Glass Vase by Erik Höglund, showing two fishermen carrying their catch. Signed Boda H822/1195
Erik Höglund, born 1932 was an artist, sculptor and glass designer. He came to the Boda Glass Works in 1953 without any knowledge in the glass industry. Learning on the job and inspired by his travels to Italy and Greece his glass work is often primitive and heavy. The modernity with which he changed Swedish glass design advanced Sweden's highly elaborate and refined designs taking their industry into the midcentury. His pieces are direct and distinctly modern. Many show people at simple tasks. His work is held at the National Museum of Sweden, Cooper Hewitt, Victoria and Albert Museum the Corning Museum of Glass and many others. -

Message from Seller:
Established in 1999, by antiques dealer Gail Garlick, the gallery focuses on historical works of the 20th Century. Primarily Good Design shows furniture, lighting and decorative arts from Italy, the US and Scandinavia. Meticulous about authenticity, we maintain a substantial research library. Our preference for refined works in original patina have won us an international following of designers, collectors and gallerists.
