Acid-Etched Brass Chest of Drawers by Bernhard Rohne for Mastercraft, C 1970.

Creator: Bernhard Rohne
Offered by: 2220 Antiques

Description
This striking three-drawer commode is a premier example of 1970s Hollywood Regency and Brutalist design, showcasing the distinctive collaborative artistry between artist Bernhard Rohne and the luxury American manufacturer Mastercraft. The piece features an exceptional acid-etched brass facade and side panels, displaying Rohne's signature abstract, painterly patterns with fluid, multi-toned oxidation over a textured golden-bronze ground. The drawers are mounted with integrated, flush rectangular brass drop-pull hardware that echoes the architectural geometry of the case. The vibrant metalwork is framed by a heavy, rounded ebonized wood border and elevated on a recessed, matching black plinth base, delivering a bold graphic contrast and a sophisticated, floating profile.
