Description
Lino Sabattini, 'Fischietto' box/shaker in silver-plated metal, 1970s.
Lino Sabattini (1925-2016) was an Italian artist. He worked in a workshop producing brass objects, where he also learned metalworking techniques. At the age of 30, Sabattini moved to Milan, where he opened a small studio equipped with a few essential tools for his craft. He strengthened his ties with the magazine *Domus*, founded by Gio Ponti, and became acquainted with architects and students who were pupils of the designer. A friendship developed between Gio Ponti and Sabattini, leading to collaborations on the Milan Triennale and the Venice Biennale, as well as features in international magazines and solo exhibitions in Italy and abroad. From 1958 to 1963, he worked in Paris and Milan for the firm Christofle. In 1964, he became an entrepreneur in his own right, establishing his own company, Argenteria Sabattini. -
