Amy S. Donaldson

American
Each composition is a passionate and vibrant example of Amy’s boldness in expressing her connection to color and light. Her perspective of how these elements play out on canvas is meant to inspire and awaken one’s senses to the glory she beholds as she creates. This is achieved by her fusion of crushed, powdered, natural pigments with oil paint that are applied in a freely expressive manner as she is lead in spirit. Using tools other than traditional brushes she attacks the surface of the canvas in a direct approach that is additive and subtractive—a process one may associate with sculpture as much as with painting. Her range of expression encompasses the appearance of time worn erosion in an aging city combined with the seemingly endless depth of creation’s perfection. Intermittently, elements of graffiti will appear that demonstrate Amy’s broad connection to various roots of societal artistic expression, all forming a window to her view of the glorious light that forms our natural world!

Amy has attained a signature style that embodies a sense of immediacy and a boldness of expression in what dwells within combined with her brilliant perspective of the world constantly evolving around her. Some pieces burst with joy and expose the divine light of the heavenly realm, then there are those works cloaked in a more intimate softness with an indefinable depth and locale. Like much of Amy’s oeuvre, these have an overall atmosphere that resemble European Romanticism and Impressionism. Her works heal through the power and presence of the heavenly truth that is expressed in the interweaving of spirit, color, and light as it flows through her onto each canvas.

A native of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, Amy Donaldson has exhibited internationally and in the US, including London, New York, Chicago and San Francisco. A 2016 solo show in Paris, Brussels Art Fair, Art Basel Miami, Atlanta’s National Juried Exhibitions, and Illinois State Museum. Her work has appeared in the television series Chicago PD, Luxe Magazine, Nuevo Estilo Magazine, Madrid, Spain and many other publications. She is a favorite among private and public collectors due to her ever evolving style and boldness. Her studio and home is currently in Redding, California.
