Lynne Drexler

Lynne Drexler was an American painter who was born in 1928 in Cumberland, Maryland and passed away in 1999. She is known for her abstract expressionist paintings which often explored themes of nature and the landscape.
Drexler studied art at the Carnegie Institute of Technology, now known as Carnegie Mellon University, and later at the Hans Hofmann School of Fine Arts in New York City. Her work was heavily influenced by the abstract expressionist movement and the natural beauty of the Eastern shore of Maryland where she grew up.
Drexler's work has been exhibited widely in the United States and can be found in the collections of several major museums, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Baltimore Museum of Art, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. She is considered one of the leading figures of the Washington Color School, a group of artists who worked in the Washington, D.C. area in the 1950s and 1960s.
