Designed by American William S. Wooten of Indiana, the "Wooten desk" is a variation of the fall-front desk. Production lasted between 1870 to 1884. The design capitalized on changes in the workplace leading to advanced filing systems and in influx of office workers. Fine condition Wooten desks are sometime sold in auction for the same price as a top-of-the-line luxury items. Antique Wooten Desk Co. Victorian Secretary Desks remain popular today.
