Charles Pollock (1930-2013) was an American industrial designer best known for his contributions to modern furniture design. After studying at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, he started his career as a freelance designer and later joined the furniture company Knoll, where he designed some of his most iconic pieces. Pollock's designs were characterized by their functionality, durability, and clean lines, with an emphasis on practical yet stylish materials. His signature Pollock Executive Chair became a classic with its streamlined profile and unique construction. Pollock was also an esteemed educator, teaching at prestigious institutions such as the Pratt Institute and Parsons School of Design. He is remembered as one of the most important industrial designers of the 20th century, and his legacy continues to inspire contemporary furniture design.
