Cindy Baron

American, 1957
Cindy Baron is a nationally recognized plein-air landscape artist working in both watercolor and oil. Born in South Bend, Indiana, she later relocated to East Greenwich, Rhode Island, where she established a full-time studio and began offering workshops and private instruction across the U.S. and internationally. In 2000, she earned Signature Member status with the American Watercolor Society, and in 2012 became a Master Signature Member with Oil Painters of America—an honor achieved by very few artists working in both mediums.

Baron’s painting style is rooted in plein-air fieldwork, capturing coastal, mountain, and rural landscapes from Maine to the American West. Her vivid, atmospheric compositions are informed by memory and light observed on location. She is also a signature member of several prominent organizations, including the Plein Air Painters of America, American Impressionist Society, Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters, Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, and California Art Club.

She has received numerous awards such as Best in Show and Award of Excellence at the Laguna Invitational, Merit and Artistic Palette awards from the Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters, and national recognition from OPA and the American Impressionist Society. Her work has been featured in publications such as Plein-Air Magazine, Southwest Art, and Watercolor Artist Magazine, and she has served as faculty and judge at major conventions and exhibitions.
